BP to Cut Hundreds of UK Jobs in Global Downsize

BP Cut UK Jobs

BP are set to announce this week that they are planning to cut hundreds of jobs at their UK offices in Aberdeen, Sunbury and London. The announcement comes as part of a global cost reduction process following a dramatic fall in the price of crude oil and the costs the company had to endure after the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

BP Chief Executive Bob Dudley will meet with City investors on Wednesday of this week to explain BP’s cost cutting procedures which aim to make substantial savings on staffing in procurement, legal and communications departments.

BP say that many back-office jobs are no longer needed because they have 50% fewer offshore fields, 50% fewer pipelines and 30% fewer wells after selling off major assets to pay for the cost of the Deepwater Horizon accident.
