Getting Motivated for Your Working Week

18184241_mIf you don’t like Mondays at work, you are not alone. Many people find it difficult to get back into their work routine on a Monday morning. It’s the start of an entire week of scheduling, organising and work commitments. But if you head in to work Monday morning with a ‘feel good’ attitude your working week should go by much more smoothly and it could help with your career progression plans too. Here are some tips on how to get motivated at work.


Breakfast is a great way to start the day and for those who say it’s the most important meal of the day – they are right. If you go to work on an empty stomach you may find it difficult to get motivated and to concentrate and could even find yourself feeling irritated by your work colleagues. Instead, allow plenty of time to eat breakfast before you leave for the office or ensure you take some snacks for your desk.


Having time to get into your work routine on a Monday morning is essential. If you wake up late and rush to work you’ll feel disorientated and disorganised. Ensure you set your alarm clock and give yourself enough time to prepare for the day ahead. You could use this time to make notes on your working week.

To Do List

Writing a to-do-list can help you feel motivated and it can give you focus for the week ahead. When you get to work on Monday morning create a to-do-list and prioritise your tasks. Not only will this allow you to aim for targets and achieve, it will keep you motivated and will also help you to monitor your work progress. This can be especially important during appraisal meetings with your manager.


After the weekend it may feel difficult to go back to work because of the 9-5 hours. But ensure you take plenty of breaks away from your screen and socialise with your work colleagues on your lunch break. Regular breaks will help you to concentrate and keep you feeling positive at work.
